Surgery and theatre

One booking. Every promise it makes, tracked.

The secretary books the surgery once. Microdoc books theatre, then records the hospital form, pre-admission request, admission letter, and post-op review as steps the team can see.

Staff stay in charge

Staff review what booking will do before it happens. If an outcome is unclear, Microdoc does not repeat the step. A person checks it.

From the decision to operate to the post-op review.

Booking takes two steps at the desk. Everything after it stays visible on the surgery's own page.

  1. 1

Start from wherever the decision was made

The same booking opens from the consultation, the patient's chart, a report, or the calendar, and stays on the page you were using.

    • Procedures, hospital, date, times, and side
    • Save for later as a surgery still to book
    • Surgeries from your practice system appear on the list without opening the chart
  2. 2

    See what booking will do

Before anything is sent, the review step shows the theatre position, payer, fees, documents, and who each one goes to.

    • Payer read live from the practice system
    • Saved fees for this hospital and procedure set
    • A pre-admission suggestion, which staff can change
    • The first free post-op slot in the practice's window
  3. 3

    Book theatre first

Theatre is booked straight away. If it is refused, nothing else goes out, and the other steps wait until theatre holds the surgery.

    • Any day and time can be chosen
    • Diary and working hours are context, not a block
    • An uncertain theatre result shows as “Check theatre booking”
  4. 4

    Send the paperwork in order

The post-op review is booked first, so the admission letter can print it. Each document is a recorded step with its own retry.

    • The hospital's own booking form, prefilled and editable
    • Letters and recipients set by procedure
    • Booklets and tests set by procedure
    • A self-pay quote with its pay-by date
  5. 5

    Handle pre-admission

Decide whether the patient needs a pre-admission clinic, request it, and record the date when the hospital gives one.

    • Documents waiting on the date go once it is entered
    • A later date change offers to send them again
    • A recent assessment is shown as a hint
  6. 6

Change or cancel in one place

A date, hospital, or procedure change is one action. Microdoc works out what is affected and shows it before you confirm.

    • Steps still waiting are replaced by the new version
    • Sent documents can be sent again
    • Earlier versions stay on record

Set up once, for how your practice really works.

A list that says what is next
Each surgery shows To book, Booked, Ready, Cancelled, or Done with its next step. Problems collect under Needs you.
Hospital defaults
Hospitals can share a booking form, and staff can choose a different form for one surgery when they need to.
Defaults by procedure
An angiogram and a TAVI can each have their own admission letter, and their forms can go to different people.
Theatre on the calendar
The theatre entry in the diary shows the surgery's status and next step, so the secretary need not open another screen.
